PROBLEM:
Receiving an error when launching the ESOPT Tool.

CAUSE:
During the install of either the SQL Management Studio or SQL Express, an incorrect option of SQL Authentacation was selected. The correct option is Windows NT Authentacation.
This can be verified by using ODBC 32 bit for testing configuration.
•The 32-bit version of the Odbcad32.exe file is located in the %systemdrive%\Windows\SysWoW64\Odbcad32.exe.
•The 64-bit version of the Odbcad32.exe file is located in the %systemdrive%\Windows\System32 folder.

RESOLUTION:
Using the proper Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) Data Source Administrator tool, and configuring the connection for the ESOPT <> SQL connection using Windows NT Authentication allowed the ESOPT tool to function.
